Discovered a curiosity around the office today... a "Durkin's Excelloscope."  It's a plate of gl*ss set in a wooden frame with four rubber feet and two hanging hooks on the back side.  On one end, there is a gap between the frame and the gl*ss pane.  What was this used for?

I found one reference to an Excelloscope on the internet... one donated to a school newspaper in 1929.

So... anyone know what this thing is?

Thanks!

John
